Colored Burlap Easter Wreaths

I am decorating hallway doors with these colorful Easter wreaths. Handmade with colored burlap fabric and ribbons, these colorful wreaths brighten every door at home. A great decor addition to my Easter party.  These yellow and pink wreaths hang on the pantry door.

Easter Basket Wreath

This season I am making Easter-Spring Basket wreaths.  Handmade with colored burlap, it resembles a wreath with a basket that holds the Easter eggs and Spring decorations.

I gathered the teal burlap tightly around the frame to create the "basket."  The handle is wrapped with a wired ribbon.

I also tried different kinds of burlap and I like how it turned out.  I used laced burlap fabric that gave the basket color effect for these wreaths.

The wire frame I used is 12-inch wide and just about the right size for the front door. Or indoor too!

My Fall Bath & Body Works Candle Collection

Love the scent of these fall candles from Bath & Body Works. I like the strong smell of lighted candles that surround the house from the living room to the kitchen. Just one lighted candle can fill the house with a warm autumn smell. My favorites this fall season are Autumn Sunshine, Sweater Weather, Flannel, Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, Crispy Morning, Pumpkin Apple, and Mahogany Apple.

Love My Red Keurig..... plus a Red Keurig Organizer!

I recently got this red  Keurig Classic model K55. Besides the convenience and functionaIity of a Keurig, I am loving how the red color brightens up the whole kitchen. And then I found a matching Mindreader drawer organizer from Amazon which totally makes my morning coffee experience so much more exciting.

Unlike the other Keurig drawers, this Mindreader coffee organizer is made of durable plastic and not of thin wire mesh used in most drawers. It easily slides out and closes smoothly.

It holds 36 K-cups. My coffee collection is composed of mostly organic dark and medium roast K-cups from Green Mountain and Newman's Own. Tea collection is from Twinings and Celestial brands.

Teal Christmas Tree

It's that time of year! The day after Halloween, is one of the most exciting days for me every holiday season. We pull out the  boxes and bins full of decors and start setting up the Christmas tree.  Christmas songs play in the background as we start installing and decorating the tree.  Last year's theme was turquoise and teal and silver, with mostly just poinsettias and picks.It was my version of a Frozen themed Christmas Tree!

This year it is going to be a bright red and green theme and will post pictures soon!

Organizing with Bankers Box

It is another year of new year's resolution, and every year I make the same goal.  Be organized!  I believe that the first step to a stress-free life is putting things in order and that starts with the smallest details in the home.

Last year, I got rid of all the things that have piled up in the closets and storage bins that we were not using anymore.  This made it easier for me this year to arrange everything inside the closets and cabinets and shelves to look nice and organized.


My first project was the linen closet in the hallway.  No matter how I fold them neatly, the different colors and shapes of the bed sheets, comforters and pillowcases, make this cabinet look cluttered.  I thought of storing them in transparent bins, but I could still see the different colors through it.  I knew there could be a better way to organize this.

I thought of buying the fabric covered storage bins but they are quite expensive.  After some research in Pinterest and Google, I found a solution!  All it took was a bankers box, spray glue and some fabric, and my linen closet now looks a thousand times better!

Here's what I did:

I bought a set of Bankers boxes in Walmart.  They cost $16 for ten pieces sized 12W x 10H x 15L inches.  It is sturdy enough to hold the sheets and a good size for the closet shelves.  Then I chose a fabric that would look good in the closet, and that was on sale at $4.00 per yard.  And a good spray glue.

I cut the fabric to the size of the box, leaving about 1-2 inches to fold inside and under the box.  I sprayed the box with the spray glue making sure that I have a mat to protect the flooring.

I made six of them!  I left it for about a day to let it dry.  For now I printed labels, but maybe later I will change them to the adhesive or bookplate ones.

So now, everytime I open my linen closet, I do not see the clutter!  The best part is that I do not have to align the sheets everytime I pull out something underneath because they are all hidden in those boxes.  When it is time to change sheets, I just drag the specific box to the bedroom and put it back in place.

First Harvest

After one year of waiting, our little honey mandarin oranges are now ready to be picked! There are only three of them really but it makes me happy that we can actually pick fruit in our backyard!

Ikea Strala Hanging Drape Lights

I bought the Ikea hanging lights for this corner window in the dining room.  It has 16 LED lights and measures about 15 feet.  For $9.99 this starry string of lights has brightened up the whole room plus a warm holiday feeling throughout.  This photo shows two sets.

Christmas Village

Every year we put together our simple Christmas village that I have collected from thrift shops.  I got these buildings and figurines for less than $3 each! The pine trees were from Walmart and Joann. I added cut garlands and shaped them like Christmas trees and put them at the back of the village for a cozier look.

Glitter Ball

I have been on the lookout for bigger Christmas ornament balls, at least about 6 inches in diameter. Though more costly, it fills up a bigger space on the tree or garland, so I do not have to add more ornaments to create a fuller look. 

As much as possible I try to stay away from glitters for obvious reasons. It is so hard to clean and  it lingers until July!  But without the glitters, it is not easy to create a stunning and sparkling Christmas display.

So lately I noticed these huge ornaments, sparkling, without the glitters. Or the glitters are sealed under a bed of beads and sequins so they don't shed off as much.  This is what I'm looking for!  But they are at least $4.

And then I went to the 99cents store and found almost the same thing! No glitters coming off and it's sparkling and cheap.  The balls now hang on the garland by the stairwell along with the blue nets and blue poinsettias.

  

And then I found more blue stuff in the 99cents store.  I brought home a blue ribbon, blue Christmas placemats, along with this blinking blue snowflake ornament!

 

 

Loving the 99cents store and I'm planning to go back for more!
